Tiguan Trim Levels

Tiguan Exterior

There are a variety of factors to take into consideration when buying a new car, but one that you might not have realized is the trim level that you want. For example, if you have your heart set on a new 2023 Volkswagen Tiguan, you may be ecstatic that you have finally chosen the SUV of your dreams. But there are a few more choices left to make. In this case, the Tiguan offers three different trim levels, the S, the SE, and the SEL. Here is a rundown of the differences between the three trims.

What’s the same?

Firstly, all of the Tiguan trims feature the same Powertrain. The Tiguan comes with a 2.0 liter TSI, DOHC, in-line 4 cylinder turbocharged engine that puts out 184 horsepower and features an 8-speed automatic transmission. Additionally, all Tiguan trims come with standard safety features

Tiguan S

Starting with the baseline model, the Tiguan S has the standard features, but also includes features such as cloth upholstery and heated side mirrors. The Tiguan S also features a 6.5 inch infotainment system, smartphone connectivity, wifi hotspot, three 12v power outlets, and a USB port. The S trim also features 17 inch multi-spoke two-tone alloy wheels.

Tiguan SE

With the first of two upgrades, the Tiguan SE is the midrange model that features some upgrades and additional features from the Tiguan S. The first difference is that the SE comes with synthetic leather upholstery instead of cloth, but there are many features added from there. The Tiguan SE also includes an upgraded 8" touchscreen infotainment system, a power-adjustable driver's seat, heated front seats, a three-month SiriusXM satellite radio trial subscription, additional USB ports, wireless charger, automatic climate control, and proximity keyless entry. The SE trim also gives you access to Volkswagen Car-Net for five years.

Tiguan SEL

Last but certainly not least, the Tiguan SEL is the highest of the three trim levels and offers the most luxury components.  From an auto-dimming rearview mirror to a power liftgate, some of the additions that might seem minor can really add the extra level to your vehicle. The SEL also comes with navigation, remote start technology, wireless smartphone connectivity, a heated steering wheel, and a premium digital cockpit that features a 12.3 inch digital gauge cluster.

Additionally on the SEL are added safety features that aren’t commonly found in the Tiguan’s class of vehicles. Most notable is the lane departure warning, lane keep assist, adaptive cruise control, rain sensing windshield wipers, and more.
