The Jetta might be the highest performing sedan in the lineup, but the Taos is definitely the highest performing SUV. The 2022 model offers an outstanding 37 mpg on the highway, while the updated 2023 model offers only slightly less at 36 mpg. This SUV can haul you and your whole crew with minimal stops for refueling. Refueling the vehicle, at least.

#4: Volkswagen Golf GTI

Another great option from Volkswagen, the Golf GTI offers up 34 highway mpg in the 2022 edition, and the 2023 edition offers up the same.

#5: 2022 Volkswagen Arteon

Fifth on this list doesn’t mean that the Arteon doesn’t achieve fantastic mileage, rather, it means that Volkswagen has managed to create and design a number of vehicles with a high fuel efficiency to keep you on the road for as long as possible. In this case, the 2022 model offers up 34 mpg on the highway, while the 2023 model offers up an only slightly lower fuel efficiency at 33 mpg.
