Common Car A/C Problems

• Refrigerant Leak - In order to create cold air, your A/C system relies on automotive refrigerants. This refrigerant goes between two phases of matter. As a gas, it moves through the refrigerant lines to pick up excess heat. It then becomes a liquid, at which point it loses the excess heat. The shed heat is whisked away, and the result is cold air around the now-liquid refrigerant. As you can imagine, low refrigerant levels are a problem when you want to stay cool. The technicians at Evans Volkswagen can check your vehicle's refrigerant and replace it with the appropriate new refrigerant. They can also check for leaks.
• A/C Compressor Problems - The A/C compressor is the component that is responsible for compressing the refrigerant into gas and pushing it through the lines. As time goes by, the compressor may become worn. Or it may have suffered physical damage in a minor accident. In either case, you should have it replaced with an OEM VW compressor from Evans Volkswagen.
• A/C Condenser Problems - Once the refrigerant has the extra heat, the condenser turns it into liquid so it can shed that heat. A clogged A/C condenser may be able to be cleared out, but a damaged condenser also requires replacement.
• Blower Motor Problems - The blower motors are the fans that take the cold air around the liquid refrigerant and blow it into your cabin. If just one blower motor is having trouble, it may be due to physical damage. However, multiple blower motors failing points towards electrical issues. We can deal with both at Evans Volkswagen.
